The final week in photos

The final week of our challenge saw us surpass our 25,000 mile target with a day to spare, and also raise over £50,000 – double our initial goal!

Adrian Howells and Calvin Bond completed an impressive 54 mile cycle journey through the sweltering Dubain desert in little over 3 and a half hours!

Guy Haynes, Tom Eatough, Richard Stocks and George Barnes, of the KBS Corporate operations department, took on a skiing challenge in light of the current Winter Olympics, and Caroline Steel took a very chilly morning swim in the Jubilee River.

Our favourite pictures from the past week

The past week has taken us from the River Thames, to Cape Town, back to the UK to Sherwood Forest, and then off to St Lucia!

Our Bolton office also organised a charity football match.

Here is a gallery of our favourite images from the past week, sent in from the K3 team.

Keep the pictures coming in, K3!

We passed our 10,000 mile mark on day 11 of our challenge, and this past week has seen our employees summit Snowdon Horseshoe, surf, take in a morning run across the beaches of Southern Spain, and enjoy the beauty of Cyprus.

Above is another selection of our favorite pictures from the past week.

Keep sending your photos in to news@k3capitalgroup.com to see your snaps featured here!

Our favourite pictures so far

From James Cheetham’s 10 mile canoe ride down the Leeds-Liverpool canal, to Chris Newell’s morning run on a crisp Maidenhead winters’ morning and Anthony Cobham’s hike through Bowness.

Randd’s Lee Middleton also took on a mammoth challenge of his own – cycling a 35 mile race on- and off-road from his home in Derbyshire to the Derwent Reservoirs, contending with a tyre puncture and a closed road causing him to re-route part-way through. Lee sent us an incredible photo from the sink plugs at the Derent Dam, site of the famous ‘dam busting’ flights of the WW2 pilots! Incredible.

Helping the environment as we go

Martin Robinson, Board member at K3, has taken our Around The World in 30 Days Challenge in his stride, clocking up miles on his morning walks along the beach with his dog Tilly.

Not only is Martin adding the daily miles to our grand total, but he also picks up litter on the beach as he goes, with Tilly bringing rubbish to him for a reward.

Each walk has a double benefit as Martin raises money for our nominated charities whilst also helping our planet, and Tilly loves it too, with Martin adding “Tilly brings rubbish to me for a reward but does get frustrated when she can’t pick something up!”

Thank you, Martin and Tilly!

How can excercise lift your mood?

Our challenge isn’t only about helping our chosen charities, but also for the benefit of each K3 employee. There are obvious physical health benefits to exercise, but often the more hidden and overlooked benefits are those on mental health.

It is widely known that exercise has a positive impact on mental health with the NHS more commonly prescribing exercise to improve a person’s mental state. The great thing about this is that a small increase can lead to noticeable benefits. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence recommends as little as 45 minutes’ exercise three times a week to notice a visible effect on overall mood.

In addition to this, partaking in charity work can lead to enhancing life satisfaction and wellbeing, which can be further amplified when taking part as a team.

With this in mind, we have nominated ‘Mind’ as one of our chosen charities to support, which provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing mental health problems.

Atw Progress Target Reached 03

WE DID IT!

We did it.

We completed 25,000 miles in (less than!) 30 days.

More importantly, you have now raised over £50,000 for our nominated charities.

We should all be very proud of the difference we will make to these charities and their beneficiaries.

Thank you to each and every one of you.

Just how are we going to travel 25,000 miles?

There is no doubt that our 25,000-mile goal is a big one, so our employees will be participating in wide range of activity to help us reach our target. Walking, running, cycling, jogging, swimming, hiking and gym workouts such as using a stepper or rower will all be taking us one step (pun intended) closer to going ‘Around the World in 30 Days’.

Our employees will be using smart apps to record their progress, and we can’t wait to keep everyone updated over the coming month!
